Cynthia Sumner Moody

Cynthia Sumner Moody, formerly of Chesapeake and currently of Suffolk, died July 5 in Newport News.

A native of Norfolk, she was the daughter of Graham T. and Dorothy Carr Sumner and the wife of Darrell W. Moody. She at one time worked with her parents at Graham’s Body Shop in Great Bridge and was involved with Jeff Bateman’s School of Karate and the PTA of Mack Benn Elementary School in Suffolk.

Besides her parents and husband, she is survived by a son, Brandon R. Moody, one brother, Walter L. Sumner of South Carolina, her mother-in-law, Helen Smart of Chesapeake, her father-in-law, Robert Moody, Sr. of Norfolk; two brothers-in-law, William &uot;Billy&uot; Moody of Newport News and Robert M. Moody Jr. and his wife Sharon of Chesapeake, and five nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Graham Sumner.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Rosewood Memorial Park in Virginia Beach. The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and at 529 Vicksdell Crescent, Chesapeake following the graveside service.
