Charges are pending against a youth for assaulting a Suffolk police officer this week.

On Thursday, Officer R.C. Timmins, 32, responded to a call on White Marsh Road involving a disturbance between a 13-year-old female and her sibling.

As the officer tried to restrain the girl, he received several scratches, requiring medical attention, said Lt. Debbie George, Suffolk Police spokeswoman. The officer did not require hospitalization.

Petitions for the juvenile’s arrest are pending, said George.
