Authorities are looking for a man accused of breaking into a house in the 500 block of Princeton Avenue over the weekend.
According to police, William Charles James, 33, knocked on the door around 5 p.m. Saturday and told the woman who came to the door that his vehicle had broken down. He also asked for a glass of water.
When she returned with the water, James forced his way into the house, assaulted the woman and requested money, said Capt. Debbie George, spokeswoman for the Suffolk Police Department.
Warrants are on file for one count residential burglary, one count abduction, one count attempted robbery and one count attempted murder, George said.
James is 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 183 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
His last known address was 8600 Meadowbrook in Norfolk.
In an unrelated incident, police are investigating the rape of a 25-year-old woman that occurred in the 200 block of Moore Avenue around 8:40 a.m. Saturday.
No other information on the incident was available late Monday.
