Gene V. Wolford

Gene V. Wolford, age 74, a resident of Cleveland, Tenn. passed away Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, from injuries he received in an accident on the family farm.

He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Sr. Master Sgt. In 1978 following 26 years of service where he served during both the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. Mr. Wolford had lived in this area for the past eleven years. He dearly loved his farm and enjoyed farming and working with horses and animals. He was a member of Oakland Christian Church in Virginia. His parents, Oscar O and Effie Moyers Wolford, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Johnnie Wolford of Cleveland; three children and their spouses: David and Pam Wolford of Georgetown, Tenn. Sharon and Bill Toll of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and Larry Smalley of Cleveland; Tenn.; three grandchildren: Michelle Toll, Shawn Toll and Richard Wolford; three great-grandchildren: Joshua Anderson, Shalynn Toll and Cameron Toll; two brothers and spouses: Byron G. and Eunice Wolford of Richmond, and James B. and Partricia Wolford of King and Queen,; two sisters and spouses: Grace and Tom Atkins of Chuckatuck, and Joann and Braxton Dale of Franklin, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at noon on Aug. 16, 2004 in the chapel of Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Douglas Coots officiating. Interment followed with military honors at 2 p.m. in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
