Suffolk man will face school bomb threat charges in court this week

A 19-year-old Suffolk man accused of calling in bomb threats to Lakeland High School last spring will stand trial this week.
Fredrick T. Gallegos of the 200 block of Nansemond Avenue is charged with one count each of making threatening phone calls, threatening to bomb, statutory burglary and grand larceny. His trial will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
According to court records, Gallegos, a former Lakeland student, was arrested in late May after allegedly threatening to bomb the school and making threats against the school principal.
When the incident occurred, the school went into &uot;lockdown mode,&uot; with students confined to their classrooms and advised not to stand near the doors or windows.
