Geraldine Barnes, 71, of the 900 block of Charlotte Street, Norfolk, died Sept. 6, 2004, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She was a native of Scotland Neck, N.C., and a former resident of Suffolk. She was preceded in death by her father, Levi Reynolds; her husband, Herbert Lee Barnes Sr., and a son, Herbert L. Barnes Jr.

She was a former member of St. Mark’s AME Zion Church, Suffolk.

She is survived by four daughters, Gwen Adams (Roy) of Suffolk, Diane Jordan of Connecticut, Regina Smith (Jesse) of Trenton, N.J., and Gloria Barnes of Chesapeake; her mother, Jennie Nelson Reynolds; one brother, Levi Reynolds Jr.; one uncle, James Reynolds (Ruby); a sister-in-law, Vernette Reynolds; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in St. Mark’s AME Zion Church by the Rev. James M. Smith. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.

The family will assemble at Crocker Funeral Home, Suffolk by 12:45 p.m. Friday for the processional to the church.
