Staff report
Suffolk Presbyterian Church is greeting Rally Day – the first day of Sunday School in the fall – with a celebration of its ministries.
The church, at 410 N. Broad St., is kicking off the fall season with a Ministry Fair at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12.
That morning, the church will also resume its regular schedule of Sunday school at 9:30 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. worship service.
&uot;The Ministry Fair will be kind of an ‘expo’ of what Suffolk Presbyterian Church has to offer in its ministries,&uot; said the Rev. Dr. Charles D. &uot;Chuck&uot; Miller, pastor. &uot;We invite the community to come and see the wide variety of ministries we provide.&uot;
Groups, including Men of the Church and Presbyterian Women, and ministry teams, such as Evangelism, Missions and Christian Formation, will have &uot;booths&uot; displaying their activities and sign-up sheets for those who wish to volunteer.
Each Sunday, beginning Sept. 12, Sunday School starts at 9:30 a.m. with fellowship and breakfast snacks. An intergenerational gathering at 9:45 a.m. includes a brief lesson based on the day’s Bible reading.
&uot;The gathering has been praised for complementing the worship service,&uot; said Maryanne Persons, Christian Formation team leader.
&uot;And the intergenerational aspect is a way for members of all ages,&uot; she added,
&uot;to reconnect as a church family after being away from each other during the week.&uot;
