Chesapeake-Annie M. Bond Overton, 88, of Chesapeake died on Thursday, September 9, 2004 at Autumn Care Nursing Home.

Mrs. Overton was born in Chowan County, North Carolina.

She was a member of Piney Grove AMEZ Church in Tyner, North Carolina.

She served as a member of the Choir, as a Deaconess and President of the Missionary Board.

Annie was predeceased by her husband, John T. Overton, her son, John W. Overton and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Atkins.

She leaves to cherish her memories: three sons, Howard of Raleigh, N.C., Lloyd (Edna) of Portsmouth

and Wayne (Barbara) Overton of Queens, NY; five daughters, Jane Valentine, Doris Gordon, Jessie Morgan and Cora Overton (Tom) all of Chesapeake and Rev. Frances Overton of Fayetteville, N.C.; eight grandchildren; great grandchildren; one sister, Dora Bond Freeman of Chesapeake; one brother, Lloyd Bond (Kelsey) of West Virginia; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held Monday, September 13, 2004 at Piney Grove AMEZ Church in Tyner, North Carolina at 1 p.m.

Viewing is on Sunday, September 12, 2004 from noon to 7 p.m. in the Chapel of T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home in Suffolk.

The wake service is from 6 to 7 p.m.

Interment will be at the Piney Grove AMEZ Church Cemetery.

The funeral procession will leave from T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral at 11 a.m.

Bus service will also be available.
