Charles Edward King Sr., 88, died Sept. 13, 2004 at Obici Hospital.

He was born July 11, 1916, in Portsmouth and was the widower of Pearl Jean King and father of the late Rozanne King Brown, Regina King Broder and Catherine King Frazier.

Mr. King was formerly employed by Godwin Motor Company as sales a manager and then for 20 years he owned and operated McRae American Jeep Honda.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Jane King Butler and Alfred R. Butler IV of Charlottesville; son Charles Edward King Jr. of Clarksville; grandsons, R. Garren Brown of Virginia Beach, A. Rawls Butler V of Nashville, Tenn., C. Adam Butler of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; granddaughter, Caroline Broder of Fairfax; great grandchildren, Fred and Lucy Buttler; significant other, Sarah Leigh Jones of Suffolk.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s of the Presentation Catholic Church by Father Lou Ruoff with burial in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m.
