Kelvin Demps scored three touchdowns as Nansemond-Suffolk Academy charged past an overmatched visiting St. Christopher’s (SC) team 35-0 in junior varsity football action on Tuesday afternoon. Demps kicked off the day by taking a 55-yard pitchout from Andy Owens, then scored on runs of 44 and five yards.

After Demps racked up a 7-0 lead less than four minutes into the game, the Saints got the ball back at their own 38. Trey Hill and Cody Oliver carried to the SC 42, and Owen lobbed a 24-yard pass to Skyler White at the 18.

A pair of penalties and quarterback sacks gave SC back the ball, but Cody Conwell snatched a fumble at the SC 20, and Demps carried down to the eight. J.R. Crowder then charged up the middle, ricocheted off four defenders, and, with the help of a fifth defender that slammed into his back, toppled into the endzone for a 14-0 lead.

SC was held without a first down, and punted to the Saint 19. Demps carried to the 36, and he, Crowder and Owens got to the 48. A false-start penalty pushed NSA back five yards, but Hill and Oliver got 10 in the next two plays, and Owens hit Oliver at the SC 44. Demps burst through the left side of the line and burned away from the SC defense on the next play for a 21-0 lead, and Hill yanked down an interception on the last play of the half.

The Saints wasted little time lighting up the scoreboard in the second half, as David Kidd fell on an SC fumbled two minutes in, and Demps scored on the next play. The Saints had the ball on their own 28 three minutes later, and Owens tossed a 16-yarder to Hill to get to midfield.

Hill and Sam Howell ran to the SC 33, but the drive stalled, as NSA lost two yards over the next three plays. But on fourth down, Owens hit Michael Coburn on the left sideline to get to the 19, and Oliver finished out the scoring with a 14-yard dash around the right side three plays later.
