James F. Parker

James F. Parker, 53, passed away Saturday, September 18, 2004, at Louise Obici Memorial Hospital, in Suffolk.

James was born in Washington, D.C., and spent most of his formative years in Virginia Beach.

He was a graduate of Princess Ann High School and Old Dominion University.

He was employed by Suffolk Public Schools where he served as a Technology Education Teacher for the past 30 years, having worked at East Suffolk Middle, Driver Intermediate, John Yeates Middle and King’s Fork Middle Schools.

He was a member of the following professional organizations: the National Education Association; the Virginia Education Association; the Education Association of Suffolk, serving on the Executive Board; and the CEE Virginia Technology Education Association.

He was also the sponsor of the Technology Student Association at King’s Fork Middle School.

He was a resident of Portsmouth, and a member of Suffolk Christian Church.

He will be remembered by his family, friends, and students as a loving, generous and caring son, brother, uncle, friend, and teacher.

His parents, Clifford M. and Martha McPhail Parker of Clinton, N.C.; brother Clifford M. Parker, Jr; nieces Ashlyn Parker, Meredyth Parker, and Jennifer Matamoras; and two great-nephews, Cody and Evan Matamoras of Virginia Beach, VA, survive James.

The memorial services will be held at Suffolk Christian Church, 216 N. Main Street, on Saturday, September 25, 2004 at 2 p.m. and at Epworth United Methodist Church, Clinton, N.C., on Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at 11 a.m.

The private interment will be at a later date.

The family will receive visitors after each service.

The Cremation Society of Virginia, Virginia Beach is in charge of the arrangements.
