Coach Maupin should not have been fired

Editor, the News-Herald:
I played softball for Brian Maupin for five years upon graduation in June.
He was my junior varsity and varsity coach. I am attending Virginia Wesleyan College on a scholarship to play softball and hearing about my coach losing his job made me very angry.
He is a wonderful coach. He helped us get to the district tournament this year and earned himself Coach of the Year. So, why fire him for having a life outside of school? Can you honestly say that no other teacher or coach drinks or has get togethers?
He did not invite his athletes to drink but to celebrate a wonderful season. The invitation said &uot;adults only.&uot; The person that costs this man his job knows who he is and so do I. He has been trying to get Coach Maupin fired for years and now that it has happened, I hope he is happy. He needs to quit his &uot;whining&uot; and get over it!
