Park dedicated

The Elizabeth Williams Burkette Memorial Park, located on Princeton Road overlooking Lake Kilby, was dedicated Wednesday afternoon by the Lake Kilby Garden Club. Pictured in the paper were Mrs. Walter F. Story, chairman of the memorial committee, and committee members Mrs. J. Frank Cross, club president, Mrs. Grace Norris, Mrs. J.W. Baker and Mrs. Walter R. Hundley.

CWBC Celebrates Bosses Banquet, 15th anniversary

The 15th anniversary of the organization of the Credit Women’s Breakfast Club was held Wednesday night at the annual Bosses Banquet at the Hotel Suffolk. Past presidents pictured in the paper were Mrs. Lois Canada, Mrs. Frances Hatfield, Mrs. Rose Heffington, Miss Christine Dail, Mrs. Mildred Hampton, Mrs. R. Helen Potter, Mrs. Dorothy Daniels and Mrs. Mary Eure.

Whaleyville Wheels

Senior class officers at Whaleyville High School this year pictured in the paper were, Lynn Brinkley, president; Judy Umphlette, vice president; Lynda Dougherty, secretary; Adele Spivey, treasurer; Leslie Williams, parliamentarian; Billy Lewter, reporter; and Donnie Brown, reporter.

Red Raider Jayvees dump Holland 34-0

Suffolk’s Jayvee football squad defeated Holland High School’s Jayvees 34-0 yesterday.

Holland fumbles played a big part in the win, as did the superior manpower advantage the Red Raiders enjoyed. The game highlight was an 85-yard touchdown pass from Tim Thornton to Phil Pope.

Suffolk scoring was evenly divided, with touchdowns being registered by Pope, Don Goldbert, Bogard Holland, Clark Thompson and Cliff Holcombe. Extra points were run by Skinny Daniels, Tom Miltier, Thompson and Holland.
