Charlene Newsome, 80, of 14559 Carrollton Blvd., Carrollton, Va, died November 9,2004 at her residence. She was a native of Nansemond County and daughter of the late Shedrick Crocker, Sr. and Maine Moore Crocker and preceded in death by her husband Levi Newsome, Sr.

Charlene joined the Prayer Mission Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor, Prophet Spincil L. Goodwin. She is served faithfully as the church mother until her heath failed.

She is survived by two daughters, Catherine E. Goodwin (Pastor Spincil) of Smithfield, Va and Isabel Newsome of Chesapeake, Va; two sons, Elder Levi Newsome, Jr. (Elaine) of Smithfield and James L. Williams (Diane) of Chesapeake; three sisters, Pauline Crocker and Mary Lee Hall of Suffolk, Maine Clifton of Salisbury, MD; three brothers, Melvin Crocker, Richard Crocker and Shedrick Crocker, Jr. all of Suffolk; three sisters-in-law, Mary Anderson (Andy) of California, Olla Williams of Philadelphia and Queenie Townsend (Walter) of Suffolk; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 13, 2004 in Prayer Mission Baptist Church, 20505 Lankford Lane, Smithfield, Va by Prophet Spincil L. Goodwin. Internment will be in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, Hobson. The body will be taken to the church at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
