McAllister E. Copeland

McAllister E. &uot;Mack&uot; Copeland, 94, of Whaleyville Blvd., passed away on Nov. 14, 2004.
A native of Chowan County, NC, born on Nov. 25, 1909, he was the son of Ephriam W. Copeland and Annie Byrum Copeland Liles.
He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Bertha Knight Copeland; daughter, Sheila C. Chappell of Suffolk,; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph P. and Rowlinda Copeland of Wakefield; grandsons, James L. Chappell, Jr. of Virginia Beach; Rev. Martin M. and wife Carrie Chappell of Bangkok, Thailand; and Alan J. Copeland of Martinsville, Ind.; great grandsons, Keith, Kevin, Charles, Caleb, and Cody Chappell;
He was predeceased by a daughter, Antha M. Copeland and a son-in-law, James L. Chappell; brothers, Mathias, Carlton, and Ephriam Copeland, Jr.; and sisters, Delorine C. Riddick and Hattie L. Rountree.
&uot;Mack&uot; attended school in Sunbury, NC, and was a farmer in North Carolina and Virginia most of his life. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and was a Trustee, Usher and served on many other committees. He dearly loved his family, his church, gardening, hunting, and fishing. All who knew &uot;Mack&uot; will always remember his generosity and kind quiet ways.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday Nov. 17, 2004 at 2pm at the Sidney F. Harrell Chapel of Harrell & Hill Funeral Home by Rev. R. Stewart McCarter and Rev. Jon Rissmiller. Burial will be at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and other times at the residence.
