North Suffolk company projects job growth

Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) will host an open house today for its Joint System of Systems Collaborative Environment Laboratory (JSCEL) in Suffolk.
The open house will include a variety of demonstrations as well as presentations from members of SAIC’s Transformation, Test, Training and Logistics Group.
The event will be held from10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at SAIC’s facility, 7021 Harbour View Boulevard, Suite 117, in the Bridgeway Commerce Park.
On Wednesday, Gov. Mark Warner announced that statewide, SAIC will be creating 4,515 jobs in the homeland security, defense sector. A spokesman for SAIC said Wednesday afternoon that they anticipate increasing their numbers in Suffolk by about 15 percent over the next two years. SAIC currently has 80 employees here.
