The administrator of the Suffolk Shelter for the Homeless on Monday issued a call to arms for the organization’s board of directors.

Terry Miller, the shelter’s executive director, has been in the media hot seat for her Nov. 23 decision to evict six families -including 11 children – from the shelter two days before Thanksgiving.

Just one person – Skip Irby, minister of West End Baptist Church – took the time to contact her, Miller said. He also called the Suffolk News-Herald in defense of Miller’s actions.

&uot;He was the only person who showed the guts to call me&uot; or the paper,&uot; Miller said. &uot;You all needed to be doing that, …you knew the stuff in the paper wasn’t true.

&uot;It’s the board’s responsibility to stand up and fight.&uot;

Miller suggested that board members call or meet with City Manager R. Steven Herbert to further discuss the situation.
