Editor, the News-Herald:

I, Thelma V. Hinton, would like to take this opportunity to thank City Manager R. Steven Herbert for helping those six young ladies and their 11 children during the Thanksgiving

holiday during the crisis situation at the Homeless Shelter.

Suffolk is definitely growing and more people are becoming homeless. I trust you will find solutions through cooperation between the public and private sector, in the distribution of funds for affordable housing through the collaboration of the Suffolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority, Social Services and Legislative reforms.

Under stressful circumstances, people often need help. No age group, economic class or society is ever completely free of difficulties that interfere with life’s challenges.

Each client is unique and deserving of consideration as a human being. In 1989, the National Association of Social Workers launched the campaign, `There’s no place like home.’

We can make that a reality for those who are homeless in Suffolk.
