Elijah Thomas Howell

Elijah Thomas Howell, 76, of 7180 Corinth Chapel Rd, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, Dec.14, 2004 at his residence.

A longtime native of Nansemond County, he was the son of the late Algie Howell, Sr. and Annie Boone Howell.

He retired from Planters Peanut Company after 20 years of employment.

Elijah leaves to cherish his memories his loving, devoted and faithful wife of 55 years, Dora Lee Howell; five sons, Alvin Thomas Howell (Doris), Donald M. Mason (Mildred), Lloyd Dennis Howell (Caryles), Lawrence Howell and Jeffrey L. Howell (Cynthia) all of Suffolk; five daughters, Rev. Carolyn Hodges of Suffolk, Sharon Smith (Al) of Detroit, Mich., Minister Barbara Cobb and Gloria Howell of Richmond, Va. and Felicia Watson of Suffolk; two brothers, Abraham Howell of Hampton, Va. and Algie T. Howell, Jr. (Leeser) of Norfolk; three sisters, Ocie Mae Caldwell of Long Island, N.Y., Dorothy Boone of Suffolk and Dora Pruden of Gates, N.C.; one aunt, Doretha Wiggins of Suffolk; one uncle, Jobie Howell of Gatesville, N.C.; 17 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004 at 1 p.m. at Corinth Chapel UCC. Dr. Millard Boone III will officiate. The Interment is at the Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery.
