Gracie Baker, 81, of 307 Bullock St., Suffolk, departed this life into eternal rest on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2004 in Chesapeake General Hospital.

She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Rosa Harris Cross.

She attended the public school system of Gates County, N.C., and was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Church of the Apostolic Faith, 113 Raleigh Ave., Suffolk, until her health began to fail.

She was the widow of Ervin Baker and to this union one daughter was born. She is survived by her daughter, Ella Baker of Bay Shore, N.Y.; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held today from noon to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home. Interment will be at Carver Memorial Park.
