Hit-and-run driver sought

Suffolk Police are searching for a suspect who struck a patrol car Tuesday morning and kept going.

Around 8:05 a.m., while an officer worked an accident in the 3600 block of Pruden Boulevard, the police car was sideswiped by a white SUV traveling east.

An off-duty Norfolk police officer pursued the suspected driver to a parking lot. When the uniformed officer started to approach the vehicle, the suspect fled again, headed east on 460, said Suffolk Police spokeswoman Lt. Debbie George.

The officer was uninjured, and the cruiser sustained approximately $1,000 in damages.

Police have no physical description of the supect driver. The SUV should have damage to the passenger side.
