Charlotte A. Bryant

Charlotte Adeline Bryant of the 200 block of Wellons Street, Suffolk, died Jan. 3, 2005 at her residence. A native of Suffolk, she was the daughter of the late Fannie Queen Copeland and Virginus Harris Copeland and the widow of Joseph Bryant.

Charlotte grew up in a Christian home and attended church faithfully. Charlotte was educated in the Virginia School System and later married the late Joseph Bryant. They moved to Philadelphia, Pa. were she was employed by the Amalgamated System in Philadelphia for over forty years. After her retirement, she moved back to Suffolk to be near her family.

Charlotte leaves to mourn her loss, her devoted sister, Elizabeth Hunter and devoted brother-in-law, Eddie Hunter of Suffolk; two aunts, Martha E. Ruffin and Lucille Lawrence; a sister-in-law, Ruth Copeland; nephews and nieces, James L. Holland, Jr., Sharon Hart (Alton), Edwina Hunter, Melinda Hunter, Rachael Bryant, Michelle Slaughter, Michael Slaughter (Sharon); great nephews and nieces, Marcus Elam, Marvin Elam, Eddie Holland, Shawn Hart, Matthew Hunter, Troy Brinkley, Latisha D. Harris (Anthony) and Sara Hunter; and a host of great great nephews and nieces, cousins, and friends.

The funeral service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in Metropolitan Baptist Church by Dr. Robert Hobbs. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. A wake will be held Thursday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Crocker Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the home of her sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Hunter, 406 Riddick Circle, Suffolk, and will also assemble there for the funeral procession on Friday.
