Elmore Jones, 66, of the 500 block of Glen Haven Drive, passed away on January 9, 2005.

A native of Gates Co., N.C., he was the son of the late Otha McCoy Jones and Lucille Winslow Jones and was also predeceased by two sisters, Virginia J. Parker and Buelah J. Bunch and a brother, Starling M. Jones.

Elmore served in the Virginia National Guard, retired as a press supervisor with AmeriComm Direct Marketing and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Rachel Bryant Jones; daughter, Diane J. Johnson and husband, Steve of Suffolk; son, Gregory B. Jones and wife, Cheryl of Houston, Texas; granddaughter, Kelsey Alise Jones; grandsons, Dustin and Devin Banton; and brothers, Archie Lee Jones and Roland Jones, both of Suffolk.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday Jan. 12, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the Sidney F. Harrell Chapel of Harrell & Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Jarvis Hearn officiating. Entombment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
