Martha Lena Ashley Ullom, 91, of the 300 block of Pamlico Trail and formerly of the 2000 block of Oregon Avenue in Portsmouth, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005 in Britthaven of Edenton.

Mrs. Ullom was born in Suffolk and was the daughter of the late Vandy P. and Emma Mae Riddick Ashley. She had worked as a clerk with Smith and Weldon’s Department Store and was a member of the St. John’s Episcopal Church in Portsmouth. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Jennings Ullom and her daughter, Martha Ullom Phieffer.

Surviving are two sons, Charles M. Ullom and wife Patty of Edenton and Bruce W. Ullom and wife Ruthie of Newport News; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Olive Branch Cemetery in Portsmouth by the Rev. Tom Hupp.

Friends may join the family from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday in Miller Funeral Home, Edenton and all other times at the residence of Charles and Patty Ullom, 325 Pamlico Trail, Edenton.
