A 19-year-old sailor was killed in a single-car accident near Holland early Sunday.
Joshua C. Pier of Tennessee died instantly when his Pontiac Grand Am struck a tree and flipped in the 7100 block of South Quay Road around 7:45 a.m., said Lt. Debbie J. George, spokeswoman for the Suffolk Police Department.
Police believe Pier, who was on his way to Norfolk, may have fallen asleep at the wheel, George said.
Speed may also have been a
factor in the accident, she added.
