Alfonzie Battle, 72, of 207 Lewis Ave. died Feb. 10, 2005 in Down East Rehabilitation Center, Gatesville, N.C. He was a native of Enfield, N.C., and the son of the late Lillian Battle. He retired from Newport News Shipyard. He was a member of Missouri Baptist Church, where he was a trustee and usher.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Battle of Suffolk; one uncle, Amos Battle of Gates, N.C.;

a sister-in-law, Mary Battle, also of Gates; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15 at Missouri Baptist Church by the Rev. Ronnie Boone. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
