Alvin L. Boone Sr.

Alvin Lee Boone Sr., of 7119 Elwood Road, Suffolk, died Feb. 15, 2005 in Obici Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Gates County, N.C., and the son of the late Jason and Flora White Boone. He was preceded in death by a son, Alvin Lee Boone Jr.

He was a member of New Olive Branch Baptist Church, Gates Road, Suffolk, where he was a deacon, trustee, and member of the gospel choir.

He is survived by his wife, Mollie J. Boone; two daughters, Essie Eure (Carl) and Peggie A. Seaborn (Amos), of Suffolk; three sons, James Lee Boone (Essie) of Suffolk; Jimmie D. Boone (Donna) of Gates and Melvin Lynn Boone (Latisha) of Suffolk;

a granddaughter whom he reared, Latonya Watson of Portsmouth; two foster sons, Gene Copeland (Debbie) of Capron and Ronald Porter (Edna) of Suffolk; four foster daughters, Denice Carney (Roe) of Suffolk, Carolyn Denson of Courtland, Jackie Marshall (Dr. Timothy) of Virginia Beach, and Elizabeth Rawls of Suffolk; six sisters, Evelyn Jones of Winton, N.C., Odell Boone (Sonny) of Brooklyn, N.Y., Georgia Hicks of Suffolk, Margaret Cross (Mackell), Janice Boone and Bertha Boone (Bonnie), all of Gates; four brothers, Thomas Boone (Anganita) of Greensboro, Hollis Boone (Carla) of Hampton, James Cross (Yvonne) and Roland Cross of Gates; 29 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; one aunt, Carlice Ashe of Suffolk; two sisters-in-law, Adell Moseley of Franklin and Elizabeth Hunter of Suffolk; one brother-in-law, James C. Hunter of Suffolk; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005 in New Olive Branch Baptist Church by the Rev. Wilbur Walden. The interment will be in the church cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
