There will be something for everyone at the Suffolk Art League’s 22nd Annual Antique Show and Sale next weekend.
More than 30 antique dealers on hand are showcasing and selling an array of collectibles at the two-day event cosponsored by the Suffolk Department of Parks and Recreation. The show is being held at King’s Fork Middle School, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $3.50 per person.
Linda Bunch, the art league’s executive director, is hopeful the large number of vendors will be a drawing card for shoppers.
&uot;There will be something for every taste and budget,&uot; Bunch said. &uot;We’ll have something for everyone, with items from the Victorian era to primitive, thimbles to chest of drawers, crystal to iron.&uot;
Antique buffs can expect to find costume jewelry, gemstones, linens, vintage clothing, elegant and depression glassware, silver, porcelain, crockery, books, postcards and much more.
A hit in previous years, Klass Productions of Norfolk will be on hand doing crystal repairs.
&uot;Chipped goblets can be repaired for another generation to use,&uot; Bunch said.
The art league will be selling Brunswick stew, barbecue, hot dogs and homemade desserts in the dining room, she said.
There is also a raffle for a reproduction plant stand donated by Heirlooms of Tomorrow. Tickets for the raffle are $2 each or three for $5. To see the plant stand or purchase tickets in advance, come by the Suffolk Museum, 118 Bosley Ave.
The show is the art league’s only major fundraising event, Bunch said. Proceeds are used to support the SAL’s many educational programs such as visiting artist workshops in area schools and workshops, classes and lectures at the Suffolk Museum.
