Some gas customers reporting problems

Customers who bought gas at Race Trac on Tuesday got more than they bargained for.

Within minutes after fueling up at the gas station at 1216 Portsmouth Boulevard, several motorists began experiencing car problems that left them stranded for hours at the station or on the nearby highway, according to a WAVY TV-10 news report.

Water somehow got mixed up in the station’s lowest and highest octane fuels, possibly entering through the underground fuel tanks, said Race Trac officials.

The station closed those pumps after being made aware of the problem.

Anyone who experienced car problems due to the Race Trac fuel should call the corporate office at 1-800-388-8035, extension 1380.

Local management referred all questions to the corporate communications department. Efforts to reach a corporate spokesman Wednesday were unsuccessful.
