Reginald L. Boone

Reginald L. Boone, 47, of the 2700 block of Burning Tree Lane, Suffolk, died March 14, 2005 in Obici Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Suffolk and was preceded in death by his father, Frank D. Perry; a sister, Theresa O. Hobson; and two brothers, Ronald O. Boone and Antonio Perry.

He was a member of the class of 1975 of Suffolk High School and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Norfolk State University. He had been employed as a nuclear instrumentation technician at the Dominion Resources Surry Nuclear Power Station for 24 years.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Mahan Street, the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. and Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge No. 48.

He is survived by his wife, Dr. Melinda J. Boone; two daughters, Regina Delores Boone and Alyssa Marie Boone of Suffolk; his mother, Delma Boone Lassiter of Suffolk; six sisters, Chicquita M. Ramos (Miguel), Faye D. Sears, Sharon Smith, Debbie Williams, Lisa Perry and Gail Perry all of Suffolk; one brother, Frank D. Perry of Portsmouth; two goddaughters, LaShawndra Walker and Charmaine Walker; fathers-in-law, Locksley Jones Jr. and Solan M. Edwards; sisters-in-law, Vivian P. Pruden (James) and Barbara Perry; uncles, Joseph Boone (Maebell) and Robert Boone (Judy); aunts, Hattie Rose Boone, Fannie Ruffin and Eloise Daughtrey; brother-in-law, Garner L. Hobson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, March 19, 2005 in First Baptist Church, Mahan Street, by the Rev. Steven G. Blunt. The entombment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Omega Rites will be held at Crocker Funeral Home at 7 p.m. Friday. The family will be at 2704 Burning Tree Lane, Suffolk. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the First Baptist Church Scholarship Fund, 112 Mahan St., Suffolk, Va. 23434 or the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia, 800 Tidewater Drive, Norfolk, Va. 23501.
