Gators are fourth in state

The Suffolk Gators swam with the state’s best and came out fourth at a Virginia Community Swim League Saturday, finishing behind Richmond, Hampton and Norfolk and ahead of Camp YMCA.

The team got third in Mixed 10U 200-relay action and fifth in 14U, and Curtis Oliver and David Forman were sixth and seventh in 7-8 25-free. Taylor Berard was second in her race, and Samantha Barbour sixth in 9-10 50. Taylor Dailey got fourth in Boys 11-12 50 racing, and Danielle Thomas was third. In Boys 13-14, Kyle Peterson got fourth, and Curtis and Berard took third in 8U 50. Elizabeth Wallace was fifth in 9-10 100-free, and Dailey followed suit in 11-12. Kyle got sixth in 13-14 to finish out freestyling.

Curtis got third in 8U 25-breast, and Elizabeth and Kendell Effler were fifth and sixth in 9-10 50. Samantha came in third in 10U 100 individual medley, and Berard did the same in 25-back. Elizabeth nabbed fifth in 9-10 50, as did Bailey in 11-12. Danielle was fourth in 11-12 Girls 50-back action. Amanda Petroski was third in 7-8 25-fly, and Samantha fifth in 9-10. Kyle came in sixth in 13-14 100-fly, and the Gator mixed relay teams got third in 8U 100-medley, fifth in 10U 200 and sixth in 14U 200.
