Ida &uot;Mae Mae&uot; Everett, of the 1100 block of Custis Rd., died March 19, 2005 in Obici Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on March 23 in Wyatt & Sons Funeral Home Chapel.

Michael Jerome Gray, 47, of the 200 block of North Lloyd Street, died March 18, 2005.

A native of Suffolk, he was the son of the late Mary E. Gray and Willie Braswell. He was predeceased in death by an uncle, James L. Knight.

He is survived by two daughters, Travas Vaughan and Jasmine Harrell both of Suffolk; a step-daughter Vantrsha Vaughan of Portsmouth; three sons, Carlton Smith of Fayetteville, N.C.; Demetrius Vaughan of Portsmouth and Jerome Mizell of Suffolk; three sisters, Linda D. Gray of Willow Grove, Pa.; Stephanie A. Gray of Suffolk, and Chiquita M. Ruffin of Portsmouth; 10n grandchildren; a stepmother, Shirley Baswell of Chesapeake; a devoted friend, Virginia Hamlin of Suffolk; one aunt, Delois Knight of Suffolk; one uncle, Charlie Braswell of North Carolina; one niece, Erice I. Ruffin; three nephews, Antonio Gray, Eric Gray and Valdez Powell; one great niece-Aniyah Gray and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2005 in Crocker Funeral Home. The interment will be held in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive guests at 13 Stacey Drive, Parker Riddick Apartments, Suffolk and 411 Duke Street.

Carrie E. Greene

Carrie &uot;Miffie&uot; Elizabeth Evans Pope Greene, 61, of the 2000 block of Archers Mill Rd., passed away on March 20, 2005 in Obici Hospital.

A native of Suffolk, she was the daughter of the late Stephen Douglas Evans, Sr. and Earline Eure Evans. She was also predeceased by a brother, Stephen Douglas Evans, Jr., and she was a homemaker.

Mrs. Greene is survived by her second husband, Dennis Ray Greene; son and daughter-in-law, William Pope and wife, Linda and grandsons, Evan and Ethan; daughter and son-in-law, Judy Ann Pope Stewart and husband, Wesley Ray and granddaughter, Ambre Marie Stewart all of Suffolk; a brother, Thomas Evans of Suffolk; step-son and wife, Dennis Ray Greene. Jr. and wife, Cheryl and step-grandchildren, Alexandria and Brandon Greene all of Eure, NC.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2005 at the Nansmond-Suffolk Cemetery, 1421 King’s Fork Road, by the Rev. Raymond Hampton.

Harrell & Hill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

William A. Henley

William Andrew &uot;Drew&uot; Henley, 33, of the 300 block of King Court, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2005 in Obici Hospital.

He was a native of Waynesville, N.C. He was employed with the City of Suffolk as a police officer. He was a U. S. Marine Corp veteran for 9 1/2 years. He was a member of the FOP Lodge #41, and the Suffolk Police Officer Association Local #5022.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Christine Henley; a loving and caring father to his children, Skyler William Henley, Austin Kenneth Sweeny-Henley, Christopher John Prygon and Alexandria Rose Prygon. He is also survived by his mother, Linda Smith Henley of Clyde, N.C.; maternal grandfather and wife, Bill and Bunny Smith of Tallahassee, Fla.; sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Scott Gardner of Canton, N.C.; brother and sister-in-law, Matt and Angie Henley of Clyde, N.C.; nephews, Lawson Gardner and Landon Henley.

He achieved his dream of becoming a police officer and he loved all of his brothers and sisters in blue.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at the Westminster Presbyterian Church by Pastor Randy McMillan. The burial will be at Morning Star United Methodist Church Cemetery, Canton, N.C. The family will receive friends at Harrell & Hill Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening and other times at the residence.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the SunTrust Bank, 123 N. Main St. Suffolk, VA 23434 in memory of Officer William A. Henley.

Samuel Miller

Samuel Miller, 38, son of the late James and Ruth Miller of Chadbourn, N.C., entered into eternal rest on March 18, after a fatal accident. He is formerly from Suffolk.

A graveside service in Whiteville, N.C., will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2005. Smith Funeral Home, Whitevile, N.C. is in charge. Information is provided by T. E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home.

Candace R. Walters

Candace R. Walters, 58, of 625 Erin Lane, Chesapeake, died March 20, 2005 in Chesapeake General Hospital. A funeral will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bible Word Church-Chesapeake. A viewing will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. at the church. Crocker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
