The Odyssey of the Mind team from Kilby Shores Elementary School, who earned a second place at the 23rd annual Regional Odyssey of the Mind Tournament held March 12 at Gloucester High School. Several schools throughout the region participated. Suffolk’s team included Kilby Shores’ 5th-graders Jennifer Asbell, Kayla Culbertson, and Collin Hoy, and 4th-graders Michael Bauder, Matthew Bradshaw, Taylor Bradshaw, and Brittany Joe. Coached by teacher Jenny Owens and parent Rosemary Knight, the Kilby Shores team competed in a field with 12 other elementary school teams in a category called Laugh-A-Thon.

Since November, the team has worked to develop a theme song, characters, staging, costumes, props, dialogue, slapstick and music for the &uot;Red Underwear Comedy Tour.&uot;

At the tournament, teams also faced a spontaneous problem to solve the day of the competition.
