Mercifully, winter appears to have finally passed us by. As such, it’s time to break out the lawnmower and get to all the chores you’ve been putting off for the past several months while vegging out in front of the tube watching football and March Madness.
To lend a helping hand to our readers, on Sunday we’ll publish our annual Spring Home Improvement section – a 24-page tabloid with everything from kitchen remodels to whether to choose regular or gel candles for decorating. Seriously, it’s a nice section, brought to you buy the top local names in the home improvement gang, many of whom are advertising in it.
While many people love spring for the aforementioned reasons, for me it’s the prospects of getting back on the golf course. I’ve had a love affair with golf that’s gone on now for nearly 35 years. I’ve not been totally faithful to my mistress over that time. I confess that I have strayed for a stretch or two to spend more time with my wife.
I haven’t actually played a round of golf yet, but I’ve been to the range a couple times and I’m having a good time. I’ve been to Golf Galaxy at Virginia Beach three times over the past two weeks to buy gear. Hope to see you on the course.
I decided to write this on Thursday, prior to the West Virginia-Texas Tech basketball game. I knew I would be too transfixed on the TV, cheering on my alma mater (WVU ’83) to be bothered with blogging. The game wasn’t to start until almost 10 p.m. so I’ll probably be late getting to work in the morning, and if we lose, I won’t feel like writing anything …anything befitting a family blog at least.
