Will Hirsch struck out 12 and allowed just one hit – the first batter of the game – as Nansemond River charged past visiting Indian River 4-0 on Friday. No Brave got past second base in the win.
&uot;I just threw my game, and Justin Topping was an excellent catcher,&uot; said Hirsch. &uot;It’s not about getting a no-hitter or a one-hitter, it’s just about getting the win.&uot;
Tyren Rivers bunted home Chris Williams in the first inning, and Nobel Reeves scored in the second. Only one runner passed first over the next three innings, but Josh Cousins led off the sixth with a double, and Reeves came in to pinch-run.

Reeves headed to third on a wild pitch, and Tim Eure walked. Chris Rice singled Reeves in and Eure to third, and Eure scored when Topping grounded out.
The Warriors opened the Nansemond River Invitational against Wilson on Saturday (not finished at press time) and will face Bayside on Monday and Booker T. Washington on Tuesday.
