Holy Neck UCC honors pastor

Holy Neck United Church of Christ honored the Rev. Dolan Talbert Sunday, Feb. 27 for 46 years of dedicated Christian service.

Rev. Talbert was presented with a gift from the church family. Following the regular morning service, a luncheon in his honor was served.

A humble servant of Jesus Christ, he not only teaches God’s word but lives a life guided by the example of love and devotion displayed by Jesus, according to church members.

The Rev. Talbert began serving churches in February 1959 in North Carolina. He is a graduate of Elon College (now Elon University) in Elon, N.C. with a B.A. degree in religion. He received his Master’s of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C.

He received a certificate in clinical pastoral education from the North Carolina Baptist Hospital and Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, N. C.

The Rev. Talbert has been actively involved in the Eastern North Carolina Association, the Eastern Virginia Association and the Southern Conference of the United Church of Christ.

Rev. Talbert is married to

Shirley Hinson Talbert. They have one daughter, Marissa Banton and her husband, Larry; two sons, Myron Talbert and the Rev. Mark Talbert and his wife, Kristi; six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Another son, Michael Talbert, went to be with God on June 8, 2000.
