Bank customer robbed at gunpoint downtown

Suffolk Police are looking for a man who robbed a SunTrust bank customer at gunpoint Wednesday morning.

The woman, who was not identified by police, was about to enter the bank on Main Street around 9:30 a.m. when she was approached by a black male with a handgun, said Suffolk Police Lt. Debbie George, department spokeswoman.

The commercial customer’s purse and deposit were stolen during the robbery, which occurred just across from the Mills E. Godwin Courts Complex. No injuries were reported.

Described as approximately 5-feet, 6-inches tall in his forties with no facial hair, the suspect is believed to have ran down Bank Street, eventually getting into a white Nissan Maximum.
