A 16-month-old boy who fell from a second-story window Thursday escaped with minor injuries.
The toddler dropped approximately 20 feet when he fell through a screened window at Sadler Pond Apartments, off U.S. Route 460, around 10:30 a.m., said Lt. Debbie George, spokeswoman for Suffolk Police Department.
&uot; When she (the mother) looked out the window, she saw her child actually crawling around in the flower bed,&uot; said George.
The child was treated at Obici Hospital, she said. The mother’s name was not available late Thursday afternoon.
The child was left alone in the second-floor apartment’s living room for a few seconds, long enough for his mother to get clothes from the dryer in another part of the apartment, George said.
Moments later, the mother heard a noise and found that her child had fallen, she said.
Although the incident is still under investigation, it appears to be accidental, George said.
