Kelsei Saunders smoked her third homer of the season and Linley Theroux stayed unbeaten as Nansemond River scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth for a comeback 5-3 win over visiting Great Bridge on Thursday. Lakeland also found success on the diamond, beating host Indian River 4-2.

Rather than getting away early and staying ahead as it had in its two previous wins, Nansemond-Suffolk Academy stretched things out Thursday, scoring at least two runs in four of five innings in a 13-0 defeat of visiting Hampton Roads Academy, Jessica Little pitched her third straight shutout, and Brittany Wilkins and Katie Byrd each got three hits.

Nansemond River will visit Hickory on Tuesday, while Lakeland hosts Franklin.
