Matt Tuttle blasted his first home run of the season as Nansemond-Suffolk Academy finished Monday’s win over Windsor the same way it started, racking up six runs in the first inning and five in the sixth for a 12-2, six-inning victory. The Lady Saints also won, defeating Windsor 13-8.

With two outs in the first, Bryan Breedlove singled to left field and stole second. Jeff Cooper doubled him in, and Andy Owens singled. Jack Wright hammered a double to right to bring both home, and Jason Rock singled. Tuttle then dropped a bomb over the centerfield fence, and the score was 6-0.

The Dukes cut the lead to four, and Owens scored on a blown pickoff in the sixth.

Tuttle led off the sixth with a single to center, went to second on an error and to third on a wild pitch. Bryan Kitz walked, and Matt Hamlet singled to left to score Tuttle. Adam Keeling walked to load the bases, and Breedlove took a pitch in the leg to force in Kitz. Cooper and Owens walked to force in two more runs, and Wright banged a long fly ball to left to bring in Breedlove for the final run.

Natalie Cutchins and Brittany Wilkins combined for eight hits and five RBIs in the softball win. Lakeland’s game at Indian River and Nansemond River’s baseball game with Great Bridge were not completed at press time.

Both Saint squads host Richmond Collegiate today and River’s teams go to Hickory. Lakeland’s girls host Franklin.
