Candi Turner Williams benefit

A benefit dinner will be held for Candi Turner Williams a cancer patient from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 23 at King’s Fork Middle School. The BBQ tickets are $6 each. A &uot;Seascape&uot; painting by artist John Taylor will be raffled, concessions and baked goods will be sold beginning at 5 p.m. A silent auction will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. and a live auction and entertainment takes place

from 6 p.m. until. Also, Riverdale Quartet, Ray Hall Family, Hearts of Praise, Living Proof, Amy Williams, Taraleigh Casteen and Noteworthy are the special guests. For more information or tickets call Kathy Parker at 934-2903.

56th Masonic District Charity Ride

The 56th Masonic District is sponsoring a Charity Ride on May 7 for the Ronald McDonald House. The ride will start at the Virginia Beach Lodge #274 on 20th Street and Arctic Avenue, Virginia Beach. Registration will be held from 8 and 11 a.m. (1st bike out at 9 a.m.). The cost is $10 for riders and $5 for passengers. Donation items needed consist of household and kitchen goods. Whaleyville Volunteer Fire Department

The Whaleyville Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor a Spring fish fry &uot;Filet of Trout&uot; from 4 to 7 p.m. at Fire Station #8, 6235 Whaleyville Blvd., Suffolk. AARP 4030 meeting

The upcoming meeting of the AARP will begin at 10:30 a.m. April 19 for socialization with the main meeting starting at 11 a.m. The featured speaker will be Captain Jim Judkins, emergency management coordinator for the city of Suffolk. He will give a presentation on fire safety in the home. Lunch will be served with a small donation requested.
