Jean E. Woodruff

Jean E. Woodruff, of 406 S. Sixth Street, peacefully went home to be with the Lord, April 13, 2005 at her home. Mrs. Woodruff was the daughter of the late Alfred and Lena Bailey and she was preceded in death by a daughter, Melody Woodruff. Mrs. Woodruff was a native of Suffolk and a retired dietician and cook for many years for the East End Baptist Day Care and two area nursing homes.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Robert L. Woodruff Jr.; two sons, Reginald L. Woodruff Sr. (Candice) of Franklin and Gary C. Woodruff (Marie) of Portsmouth; two daughters, Tracey V. Goodman (Michael, Sr.) of Suffolk and Sherry W. Edwards (Verlin) of Washington, D.C.; five grandchildren, Reginald Jr. and Lewis Woodruff of Franklin, Michael Goodman Jr., Tiffany Garvin and Davina Woodruff all of Suffolk; four step-grandchildren, Lashonda Wright, Prentiss, Brandon and Edwin Freeman; three great-grandchildren, Eric, Jermaine and NaShawn Wright; a brother, William Earl Wynn (Mary Jane) of Annadale; and an adopted daughter, Lois &uot;Tweet&uot; Wicks.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today at East End Baptist Church by the Rev. Mark A. Croston. The burial will be in the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. The family will be receiving visitors at 406 S. Sixth Street, Suffolk.
