Mattei helps Warriors slip by

David Mattei had his second game-winning RBI is three games Friday, batting in Nobel Reeves in the ninth inning as Nansemond River defeated Western Branch 9-8. Mattei also pitched for the win for the Warriors.

The Lady Warriors weren’t as lucky, falling 4-0 in softball. Both Lakeland teams fell to Deep Creek, and King’s Fork to Indian River.

The King’s Fork girls will return to action next, hosting Phoebus on Monday. Lakeland will head to King’s Fork on Tuesday.

River and Lakeland will battle at Lakeland on Friday.
