Two lady Suffolkians who have battled across Southeastern district field hockey fields and softball diamonds for years have announced their college intentions.
Heather Horton, a three-time All-District selection in field hockey and two-time (thus far) selection in softball for Nansemond River, will attend Radford University and major in business management.
Lindsay Kelly, who made All-Region field hockey honors last year while helping Lakeland to its fourth-straight district regular season and tournament title and has pitched her way onto the All-District softball team twice, plans to attend Christopher Newport University and major in elementary education.
She also hopes to play on the field hockey team that won a school-record 11 games last year.
