That time of the year is here again.

The Suffolk Peanut Fest committee has launched plans for the city’s biggest annual party, which draws more than 200,000 from across the East Coast.

Wayne Myane, 2005 Peanut Fest chairman and the executive committee, announced Thursday that the 28th Peanut Fest will take place Oct. 6-9.

Myane is looking forward to working with the more than 300 volunteers to create what’s traditionally a fun-filled atmosphere with something for everyone. But there’s much work to be done in the interim.

&uot;Seven months away seems like ample time to get the job done but there is so much that goes on behind the scenes to pull this event off,&uot; said Myane. &uot;Our volunteers and committee leaders are the backbone of the event and we have a lot to do in these few months.&uot;

Myane is not new to volunteering with Peanut Fest, which dates back 17 years ago when he was communications coordinator and then became the outside exhibits coordinators.

Myane has also been extensively involved with the Suffolk Ruritans and their annual Shrimp Feast, serving as chairman of the event in 1993, 1998 and co-chairman in 2001.

Looking forward to this year’s Peanut Fest and Shrimp Feast, Myane said, &uot;Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005-opening day of the festival, we kick things off with the Suffolk Ruritans producing their 28th annual Shrimp Feast which brings in about 5,000 people.&uot;

In addition to promoting the city, Myane said his goal is to bring new exciting events to the festival, &uot;making this year yet another exceptional event
