Catherine W. Hudgins

Catherine Weaver Hudgins, 79, of the 200 block of Prospect Road, Suffolk, died May 10, 2005 in the home of her daughter in the 400 block of Hunter Street. A native of Hertford County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late William and Nannie Daniel Weaver and the widow of Willie Hudgins. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Kathleen Eure and Renee Hudgins; and one son, Willie George Hudgins.
She was a member of New Mt. Joy Food for Living Ministry and was retired from the Usher Board.
She is survived by five daughters, Nan H. Diggs of Portsmouth, Barbara Jenkins (Gary) of Philadelphia, Dorothy Knight, and Mary Riddick (James) both of Suffolk, and Perla Noveras of Hawaii; three sons, David L. Hudgins and James E. Hudgins (Sarah), both of Chesapeake, and George Hudgins of Suffolk; three sisters, Louise Harris of Baltimore, Md., Thelma Carr of Murfreesboro, and Ruth Mitchell of Chicago, Ill.; two brothers, Freddie Lee Weaver of Ahoskie, and James Willie Weaver of Murfreesboro; 23 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law; Jannie Mitchell; two brothers-in-law, James Hudgins and John Hudgins; one aunt, Suzette Weaver; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2005 in New Mt. Joy Food for Living Ministry by Bishop William P. Wiggins. The interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements. At 10 a.m. the family will assemble at 418 Hunter St., Suffolk, for the processional to the church.
