The board of directors of the Suffolk Art League is offering the Suffolk Art League/Chip Picot Memorial Student Scholarship.

This Scholarship is available to students who either live in or attend school in Suffolk, public, private or home schooled. Students must be entering grades sixth to twelfth in the 2005 – 2006 school year to be eligible.

Each year the Suffolk Art League offers $1,000 in scholarship funds for students wishing to pursue their artistic talents whether visual art, performing art or literary art. This can be given as a single scholarship or divided among several students. The deadline to submit applications is Saturday, May 14.

Student Scholarship applications are available from Suffolk school guidance directors and art, band and chorus/music teachers. They are also available at the Suffolk Museum, 118 Bosley Avenue or by calling the art league office at 925-0448.

Part of this scholarship is derived from the Chip Picot Memorial Scholarship Fund. Anyone wishing to contribute can send donations to the Suffolk Art League/Picot Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 1086, Suffolk, Va. 23439.
