Kiwanis raffle to benefit CHKD

The Kiwanis clubs of Hampton Roads are selling chances to win a 2005 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail Classic motorcycle and $10,000 in cash.

Proceeds from the raffle will go toward the purchase of a new mobile intensive care unit for Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters.

Using a &uot;Las Vegas Drawdown&uot; format, the first ticket drawn and every 25th ticket drawn will receive $100.

The second-from-last ticket drawn (third prize) will win $1,000 and the next-to-last ticket drawn (second prize) will win $2,500.

The last ticket drawn (grand prize) will receive both the motorcycle and $10,000.

Tickets are $50 each and only 2,500 will be sold.

(Odds of winning a prize are 1 in 25.)

Tickets are on sale at any Bank of Hampton Roads location and at two local Harley Davidson dealerships–Southside Harley Davidson in Virginia Beach and Hampton Roads Harley Davidson in Yorktown. Tickets also are available by calling CHKD’s community relations office at (757) 668-7070.

The drawing will be held at 1 p.m. July 9 at Southside Harley Davidson.

CHKD mobile intensive care units are specially equipped to care for critically ill or injured infants and children requiring transfer from other area hospitals to Children’s Hospitals intensive and special care nursing units and pediatric specialists.

Transports are made from all across Hampton Roads, the Eastern Shore and northeastern North Carolina.
