New Paul’s Temple
New Paul’s Temple Holiness Church, 720 Hosier Road, will have a celebration of Pastor Catherine Skinner’s 12th Anniversary at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 20, with speaker Elder L. March for Jesus
The Second Annual March for Jesus will be held Saturday, June 4. The parade assembly will start at 9 a.m. in the parking lot on South Saratoga Street behind the Salvation Army. The parade will roll out at 10 a.m. and go along West Washington Street and then north on North Main Street to Finney Avenue and will conclude with a rally of praise and worship in the parking lot across from First Baptist Main Street Church.

Women’s Day
at Gethsemane
Gethsemane Baptist Church, 1656 Copeland Road, will be celebrating its annual Women’s Day at 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 22. The Rev. Rainbow Tea
at New Calvary
At New Calvary Baptist Church, 220 N. Sixth St., the Women’s Fellowship will sponsor a Rainbow Tea in the East Suffolk Community Center at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 21. City-to-city
women’s conference
Sista Chosen Ministries will be having a city-to-city women’s conference titled &uot;We Will Survive 2005&uot; and a play titled, &uot;Brotha Chosen.&uot; The cities included in this tour will be Richmond, June 7-10; Norfolk, Sept. 7-10; and the Outer Banks, Dec. 7-10. All events take place Wednesday through Saturday. The conference speakers are Prophetess Freda Y. Cross, El Bethel and Rose of Sharon Worship Centers, Prophetess Tammy Alexander, Dominion and Glory Ministries, of Richmond, Evangelist Kymberly D. Johnson, New Macedonia Baptist Church of Riverdale, Ga., and Evangela Watford, Suffolk. There will be a choir chosen per city.
Sista Chosen is looking for men and women interested in acting, 18 years and older, who will be free to travel. These individuals must be kingdom minded, devoted, determined, easy to get along with, and most of all be serious about working toward the completion of God’s plan. Women’s Day
At 11 a.m. Sunday, May 15, Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church, 635 Brook Ave., will hold its annual Women’s Day program with the theme of &uot;Women Working for God one day at a time.&uot; The Rev. Tracy S. Eley, of Tabernacle Christian United Church of Christ, Suffolk, and the Rev. Sandra Freeman of Pleasant Shade Baptist of Franklin, will be the special guests.
Calendar pageant
The Christian Women’s Ministry of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 6100 Holy Neck Road, will sponsor a Calendar Pageant at 4 p.m. Sundayat the church. The months of the year will be showcased with various talents.
Missions Day
Main Street United Methodist Church is sponsoring a Missions Day to Petersburg on Saturday, May 21. At 7:30 a.m. members will meet at the church and return by 3 p.m. A stop will be made on the way for breakfast. Those attending should bring a bag lunch (drinks are provided). Weather permitting, the Missions Day activities may include: demolition, gardening, vinyl siding and various other tasks. Call 539-1131 or 539-8751 by Sunday, May 15. Women’s Day
The Women of Metropolitan Baptist Church, 125 County St., will be celebrating their annual Woman’s Day, beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, with a prayer service portraying the &uot;Women of the Bible&uot; and ladies night. At 9 a.m. Saturday, May 21, the women will be having a fellowship breakfast in the educational department of the church. Shirley Wade will bring the message of &uot;Christian Women Facing the Future with Faith.&uot; The climax of Women’s Day at Metropolitan Baptist will end at 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 22 with the Rev. Sherleen Branch as our guest Minister delivering the message, in reference to Christian Women Facing the Future with Faith.
Minister’s revival
Healing Fountain Macedonia Church, 308 Briggs St., will have a minister’s revival at 7:30 nightly May 16-20. Tuesday night the speaker is Elder Trevon Boone, New Mt. Joy Food For Living of Suffolk; Wednesday, Evangelist Diane Harris of Portsmouth; Thursday, Evangelist Yolanda Branch from Healing Fountain Macedonia Church; and on Friday, the speaker is Minister Jewell Corprew of Healing Fountain Macedonia.
Yard sale and craft show
Liberty Spring Baptist Church, 4213 Whaleyville Blvd., will hold a yard sale/craft show from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 4. Vendors should contact the church office at 986-4403 for application. There will also be a concession stand.
