Both Nansemond-Suffolk Academy ball teams got off to a good start in the first round of the TCIS tournament Tuesday, as the baseball team beat Catholic 9-6 and the girls roared past Norfolk Academy, 10-0.

Jason Rock and Matt Tuttle homered for the Saints and Bryan Breedlove pitched for the win. Jessica Little held Academy to a single hit and struck out eight, and Katie Byrd smacked in four runs.

Both teams return to action tonight at Greenbrier Christian, as the girls play Norfolk Collegiate at 7 p.m. and the boys battle Hampton Roads Academy at 7:30 p.m. The boys last won the tournament in 2002-03, the girls in 2001-02.
